Sukkot Open House

J-Town's Sukkot Open House will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the home of Rabbi Jesse Gallop and Rabbi Andrew Goodman, located in the Fan.

Come join us, and through eating, drinking, and celebrating, we can take on the spirit of joy and celebration of the Sukkot Festival, the season of our rejoicing. We'll have appetizers and dessert, and the attire is casual.

High Holiday Tickets

Congregation Beth Ahabah appreciates the commitment of J-Town participants to building a strong Jewish community in Richmond. The clergy and leadership of the synagogue want to make sure that you have a home for the High Holidays, and would like to invite you to services.

If you are not a member, and are interested in attending Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services, Bet Ahabah would like to offer you tickets. Normally, guest High Holiday tickets are $250 for the season; however, we realize that this is a stumbling block to many in their 20s and 30s who are not financially able to invest that amount of money in synagogue life. A donation of $25 (or whatever you can afford) is suggested and will be used to subsidize future J-Town programs throughout the year. Also, all college students (undergraduate and graduate) are welcome to attend High Holy Day services free of charge when you show your student ID. 

Every person attending Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services must have a ticket. For High Holy Day tickets, contact Lori Lacy at l.lacy@bethahabah.org or 804-358-6757, and provide your name, phone number, email and mailing address. If you would like to bring a guest, please include their information as well.

Apple Picking

Stock up on apples for Rosh Hashanah!

Join J-Town Saturday, Sept. 8 for apple picking at Carter Mountain Orchard in Charlottesville. We'll meet at 10:45 a.m. at Beth Ahabah, followed by lunch at Mountain Grille at 12:30 p.m. We'll be picking apples from 1:15-2:45, with help from the staff to know what's ripe, and how and where to pick.

The orchard will have plastic bags available, but you can also bring bags or baskets from home.

J-Town Mitzvah Day Project for Richmond Friends of the Homeless

Sunday, May 15th - 8:45am until NoonWe will have some breakfast goodies to nosh on beginning at 8:45am, then we will be making lunches at Beth Ahabah. After the lunches are made we will travel to southside to clean up a senior’s yard and hand out meals.This is a great opportunity to have some fun with your peers while making a difference in our community!An RSVP is not required, but we would like to get an idea of how many helping hands we will have.We look forward to seeing you Sunday!

First Night Seder Recipes

Hey Guys! Sorry for the delay...it's been a crazy Passover week at the temple. We finally have those delicious First Night Seder Recipes available for everyone to enjoy. They can be found in "photos" under "First Night Seder Recipes." Hopefully you can try them out before Passover ends, but you know you'll love them all year round. Bon Appetit!!

1st Night Seder

Hello J-Town! Here's a modern twist on an age-old tradition...a 1st Night Seder with Latin American cuisine. The Seder will be held in the Beth Ahabah Joel House, and the cost is $15 per person. Feel free to bring your own wine, Kiddush cup, and seder place, and we will provide Manischewitz wine and juice.
